Each of the SAA books I have read in the past were delicious from the start and ended up being scrumptious and making me want seconds. I absolutely love Sarah Addison Allen and I really enjoy magical realism so I was looking forward to this book and sadly it disappointed me. Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read in exchange for my honest review! If you love a character heavy read with some magical components subtlety woven in to a sweet story, you also may love this one! I'm so glad I came back to this lovely book, what a treasure. I LOVED the characters and watching how they grew and changed. I fell in love with the allure and magical qualities of Mallow Island and The Dellawisp. I found that I devoured it the second time around. I decided to pick it back up after a friend read it and loved it. That's the lovely and funny thing about books! Sometimes you found the right book at the wrong time. I started this book once, months ago, and ended up putting it down as it didn't grab me and my TBR was calling. Thrown into the mix are the Dellawisp birds themselves - funny little turquoise birds known for stealing items from the residents She vows to make friends with the other residents, all whom have secrets from the past they carry deep within them. Zoey moves into her late mother's old condo at The Dellawisp in a lovely little island in South Carolina, known for it's marshmallow industry and tourism. Other Birds is a magical realism/supernatural story about friendships and second chances.
